Pasted to the page is a picture of Eishona and her two kodo. She’s wearing new armor, including a savage looking skull mark streaked with war paint. She looks to be standing in Orgrimmar when this picture was taken. Her kodo look ready for trade; wearing harnesses to which baskets and bags of goods are strapped to. She writes in a careful hand below.
This clan I got involved with was uh- it’s intense. Xet, the chieften, asked we wear skulls after the clan’s home was attacked and defended. The Gordunni attacked and while we were successful in thwarting them, I am filled with guilt. I shot someone. Not a beast, but a someone. I shot a thinking, talking being. I haven’t done anything like that since.. since the harpies and quillboar in the Barrens. Grant it, it would have killed me and my clan mates.. so I was forced to take action.. It still troubles me. It was too easy to let an arrow loose and catch it in the shoulder.
Xet explained these are a cruel people, that they’re skinning and eating the Grimtotem in the region, including the calves. How dreadful! Imagine enslaving others, or eating their young to get them to do what you want. I am filled with a new purpose, to save those people from these ogres. To help defend this clan, but I also need to go home to Highmountain and also see to this trade route Ginja and I have worked out. Right now she’s managing it, and taking a hefty cut in the profits - which is fair. She’s doing most of the work after all. Her letters and reports show we’re doing ok, but running low on goods to trade.
Routy’s letters are dull, he craves something to do but I think he feels stuck at camp. He could go I tell him, but he doesn’t. Maybe work will find him soon! Traveling home has gotten quicker, the portals are still exhausting but I don’t need to take as much time to recover now. Vik’wa commented that is because I am more used to it. She said were I trained in the magical studies, I’d nearly be living in arcane energy, surrounded by it as I practiced it. Kind of glad I am just a hunter.
Speaking of my teacher, I am due for a class in Trueshot.. more spear practice, and possibly some introductory classes to these mounts I keep hearing about. These wolfhawks. I’ve only seen them from a distance. They’re a strong beast, hard to approach if they aren’t under your care - a bit like Tusok. They prefer only the touch of their handler, and that should be respected.
I approached an armor maker recently with some of the skulls of the beasts and ogres we slew that night.. She helped me craft a new set, including a helm, per Xet’s request - I painted it with blue streaks to remind me of the sky. I always look to the sky, and it’s hard to see in Feralas. The armor crafter promised me a fine set, and she delivered. It fits very well, and doesn’t chafe or curl my fur. It’s strong chain set over good leather and finally lined with linen. It feels so savage and strange, excessive maybe? My last set was very plain, I like it that way. But this clan seems to like to keep up appearances so I am doing my best to keep up with that.
